Not if you choose the right material. Our galvanized steel staircases are hot-dip galvanized inside and out, then powder-coated for a double layer of corrosion protection. Our aluminum series is naturally rust-proof and requires no coating at all. Both are engineered to withstand decades of outdoor exposure, including coastal salt-air environments.
